Gonzaga juniors James Mwaura finished second and fourth, respectively, in the men's 8-kilometer race Wednesday at the West Coast Conference Championships at Craig Ranch Regional Park in North Las Vegas. Mwaura clocked 23:02.9 and Guermali ran 23:07.5 for the Bulldogs, who had five scorers in the top 20 to secure second place overall with 51 points, matching its best finish since back-to-back runner-up performances in 2003-04. Mwaura improved from fourth place at the 2019 conference final, with Guermali ascending from 19th overall at the 2018 conference championship meet.
